With another sunny day comes another urge to buy some of these. They came to the liquor stores a couple of years ago in small (expensive) bottles. Since then the price has been adjusted and they're now available in tall cans.

They're like a grapefruit juice shandy. Not too sweet, Not too juicy (refreshing). The can lends itself to the ability to drink them in public places like parks, and beaches (yes!). The 2% alcohol content lends itself to noon openings, although I think I'd like 3 or 4% better. I like them very much! Why buy soda?

They sell Radler in the states? Why haven't I known this??? I've always tried to make my own with minimal success

There's a pub near me that routinely has this on tap. It is very tasty way to cleanse your palate. Have you tried Stiegl's Goldbrau? That was one of my favorite beers for a very long time.

Used to get it in the Swiss Bakery down the street, but now it's even in Safeway around me.

Sorry, I'm not in The States.

Yes, I figured it would be near impossible to make them at home. I think the juice would kill too much of the carbonation.

Buuuuut, just last week I saw my first cheap home carbonation kit in a retail setting. Sold as a "make your own pop from juice" type thing.

I've seen Goldbrau around. I'll give it a try for sure.

I think this is actually a mixture of their Goldbrau and grapefruit juice. The carbonation might be hard to get right, but I think the taste could be replicated.

Since some varieties of hops have a definite grapefruit taste to them I could see this being pretty damn good, especially on a hot day.

Same. Our Munich office filled us in on the details (they serve them when we're over there and get lunch ordered in for meetings or classes). The real key was the "limo" mixer, and then their recommendation was Paulaner Hefe (or similar). Sprite is similar but way, way too sugary. Almdudler is a decent mix, but in the US I've only seen it at places like germandeli.com

I may have to give that a go. I picked up a 24-case of Paulaner Hefe-Wiezen for $6 on clearance (it was getting close to expiration) at my local liquor store

$3.30 Canadian/each tax & deposit included. I don't know if that is good or bad?

I think that's about what they are here. When they first became available 2 or 3 years ago they were charging the same for those little 330ml bottles. Yuck.

Just got back from the boozer. They were sold out of the Stiegl, but Tree Brewing out of Kelowna BC (can you get Tree there?) now sells the same thing. More beer flavor, sharper, a little sweeter with less body.

Parallel 49 is said to have a Radler as their first canned beer soon. All their beers are perfect (if you can get them there too).
